PvP, and What It Means To Me…

I started WoW back in December of 2006. I finally made it to 70 about 3 weeks ago, and felt like an enormous weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. I felt that way simply because I was a “casual” WoW’r, until I got a better job and wasn’t so stressed out about computers, that I actually wanted to play the game I bought.

I reactivated my account after a big debate to if I wanted to dedicate the time and effort and make it to 70, and what I would do after I made it. Well, I still consider myself a “casual” gamer, as I don’t “do” raids (that often), since I’m nowhere near purpley enough to qualify for raids at level 70–in addition to me being geared only greens & blues (blues have the majority).

I decided that rather do dailys well, daily, I’d do PvP and grind my ass to the purple gear, since I consider PvP rather “casual,” yet it is incredibly rewarding. It takes a few matches in each BG to get used to how to play it, but once the hang is gotten, you start getting honor like mad, which equals easier gear attainment, which equals a better geared player, which the cycle repeats itself exponentially.

I was finally able to buy my first piece of purple gear last night, the Gladiator’s Plate Helm, and I quickly equipped it with two sweet gems, and was back out on the BG racking up the honor. In the one match after my equipping, I raked in 1K honor, which took 2 matches with the previous gear… I’m sure I was getting “lucky,” but I definitely felt a difference in how I handled damage being dealt to me, and felt a difference in what went out.

Needless to say, PvP is a great casual was to obtain the purples, and gear yourself easily if you’re not “raid worthy,” like myself. It also gives you great practice in facing the high-level mobs, even if they’re (literally) running circles around you, it gives you better focus and casting, as well as what to do in the hot & heavy situations that you’ll encounter in the 70+ instances.

Over the coming weeks, I will be grinding the hell outta PvP to obtain the remainder of the Gladiator’s Plate set, and then hopefully I’ll be ready for both the 70+ raids, and the expansion. :-)

For the Alliance!
